Vidya Lakshmi portal
The single front door to public sector education loans, replacing separate applications at each bank.
Government of India · India and overseas
Open now, no closing date announcedOpen year-round. One registration reaches multiple banks.
Why this one matters
Applying to several banks at once is the difference between one branch manager's decision and a real comparison, and it costs nothing.
What it covers
application routing. Levels funded: undergraduate, postgraduate, phd.
The terms
- A single application form reaching several public sector banks at once
- Tracks the status of both the loan application and any subsidy claim
- Links to central and state loan and subsidy schemes in one place
Who can apply
- You must be a citizen of India
Where applications fail
Most rejected applications are not ineligible students. They are eligible students who missed a step.
- Registering on the portal is not applying. You must complete and submit the loan application to each chosen bank inside it.
- Banks still ask you to visit the branch with originals. The portal starts the process, it does not finish it.
- Keep the application number. Tracking a claim later is close to impossible without it.
